Mitchell O'Neil, AIA

American Institute of Architects

MITCHELL O'NEIL is drawn to the simplicity and clarity of the principles of Modernism, whether working within the disciplines of traditional or contemporary styles of architecture.  Variations on the interplay of structure and light define his work.  To reach design solutions, he filters clients' expressed needs and desires through his personal aesthetic screen of order, hierarchy and proportional composition.

O'Neil graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the School of Architecture of the University of Miami.  In the early part of his career he worked with Alex Gorlin of New York as Architect of Record on a Jupiter Florida home.  He also worked in the office of Bruce Graham, former partner in the Chicago office of Skidmore Owens and Merrill.

In the early 1990's he established his own firm, Mitchell O'Neil, A.I.A., P. A. in Jupiter, Florida.
The recipient of many awards, O'Neil has received eleven individual Honor & Design Excellence Awards from the Palm Beach Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.  In 2008 he received the Design Honor Award "...for the high quality and originality of this whole body of work, which has advanced the cause and public value of good architecture and provided and inspiration for colleagues."

His designs have been published and featured in more than twenty magazines, including: Robb Report Luxury Home; Florida Architect(cover story); Florida Design (cover story); and Home.  The Learning Channel (TLC) devoted a half-hour episode of their program TLC Dream Living to his award winning design for a vacation home in the Florida Keys.  HGTV (Home & Garden Television) featured an O'Neil designed home, in Jupiter Florida, on their series Top10.
